Victor Barden: Music
Ain't Got No Blues
(Victor Barden)
LYRICS:
CHORUS:
I ain’t got no blues ‘cause Jesus rules in me!
I ain’t got no blues ‘cause Jesus rules in me!
The Prince of Peace has come, and He’s set me free!
I once was lost, but, brother, now I’m found.
Yes, I once was lost, but, sister, now I’m found.
Now that I know Him, nothing’s gonna keep me down.
I once was blind, but now I can see.
Yes, I once was blind, but now I can see,
The Son of God has come and delivered me!
CHORUS
Now, I have my troubles, and I have my strife.
Yes, I have my troubles, and I have my strife.
Well, they just keep me going toward eternal life.
You may think I’m crazy and call me what you will.
Go ahead and think I’m crazy (you won’t be the first) and call me what you will,
But I will cleave unto my Jesus still.
CHORUS
STORY: Anybody who has played popular music in the last 50 years has been influenced by the blues, so it seemed appropriate to turn the style on its ear, so to speak, and sing a blues song about not having any blues. This condition, of course, is not from a lack of troubles or even from feeling happy but from an abiding and unbreakable trust in Jesus Christ, come what may.
