Victor Barden: Music
Just for the Heaven of It
(Victor Barden)
I am a lover of word games and puzzles, and one game I like to play is taking common expressions and changing one word to its opposite just to see what I come up with. In this case the expression turned into a statement of what our purpose should be in doing what we do. May God help us if we are serving Him for any reason other than just for the heaven of it.
On this track all the instruments except the bass are acoustic or acoustic-sounding. I didn’t set out to make it that way, but when I saw how the song was coming together I decided to keep it that way. Thanks to Jim Hills for the resonator guitar.
I don’t need a million tons of money.
I don’t need untold fortune and fame.
I don’t need a million women calling me honey.
I don’t need the whole world knowing my name.
So tell me, why do I do these crazy things I do
Like living for the truth, giving thanks, and loving You?
CHO: Just for the heaven of it I do what I do.
Just for the heaven of it is why I love You.
I only want to be around my Beloved.
There’s nothing else I covet but just the heaven of it.
This love I have, it’s not about emotion.
You can’t depend on feelings anyway.
This love I have, it’s all about devotion,
Making our love new day by day.
And every day it grows, as Your will I do,
From glory unto glory until I am full of You!
CHORUS
You know, the world can keep everything it offers me,
Because none of it compares to life eternally!
CHORUS x 2
Just for the, just for the, just for the heaven of it. (x 4)
