Victor Barden: Music

It's Always Morning Somewhere

(Victor Barden)
It seems to me that if Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet can go have a beer at 12:15 because it’s 5:00 somewhere, then certainly you and I can benefit from the mercies of God that are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23) whenever we need them because it’s always morning somewhere.
I needed many takes to record the electric guitar lead over the second break. At a moment of frustration it finally dawned on me that I had not “plugged into the Source” — that is, I hadn’t asked God for His help or His presence. I did so and made only one mistake on the next take, but the mistake was hitting an open G string when I was playing over an E-flat chord. The note G is part of the E-flat chord, so I didn’t change it, and I call that the Lord’s lead because He was the one who played it with my body.
The Bible says, and I believe it’s true,
That every morning God’s mercies are new.
But what it I need ‘em and it’s after two?
Do I have to wait all night?
I’ve had a moment that was not so great;
I need His mercy now, and I can’t wait.
Do I have to hold on until the break of day
‘Til I can make it right?

CHO: It could be morning in Albuquerque or Istanbul
Out in Turkey or in Liverpool.
In Australia or in Taiwan,
Somewhere comes the dawn.
It could be morning in Honolulu or Amsterdam,
In Jerusalem or Birmingham,
In Siberia or in Pierre —
It’s always morning somewhere.

16-BAR LEAD BREAK

Now it’s still a good idea when you awake
For a healthy dose of God’s mercy to take
Just in case you might have made a mistake
Sometime yesterday.
When you find yourself knee-deep in grime,
God’s mercy is available any time,
And you don’t have to pay one thin dime,
So get it without delay!

CHORUS x 2

In Siberia or in Pierre —
It’s always morning somewhere,
So you don’t need that shame to bear —
It’s always morning somewhere!
