Victor Barden: Music

Come and Live

(Victor Barden)
LYRICS:
Beloved, why do you run
Up, down, to and fro, anywhere under the sun?
Can you find no peace, no matter what you try?
Well-beloved, blessed are you
Because it means that the Lord is calling you,
And He wants you to know the love that He has for you.

CHORUS:
Yes, there is a place for you in His kingdom,
No matter where you might have come from.
Come and live in the everlasting love
Of the Almighty!

When Jesus was crucified,
There was a criminal that He hung beside.
When he said, “O Lord, please remember me in Your kingdom,”
The Lord Jesus managed a smile,
And then He assured the man that in just a little while,
They would both be together living in Paradise.

CHORUS

When Jesus died on Calvary
For you and for me,
There on the Cross He opened the Way,
And now He’s calling to you
To come; only He can save you
From death and hell, and He can do it today.

Beloved, won’t you enter in?
Come to the Lamb of God, be cleansed from your sin,
So that you can be what God meant you to be:
Joyful and free,
A fruit-bearing tree,
Pure and holy.
You don’t need money, no diamonds or pearls.
You don’t need any of the wisdom of this world.
What you need is Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.

CHORUS

Come and live.

STORY: I had the chord pattern to this song at some point in the 1980's. After I was born again I tried to write the lyrics, but all that would come was the title, "Come and Live"; the chorus came then, too, but I didn't think I would keep it. The verses came on February 1, 1996, a day on which I got many lyrics.
